To All,
With great sadness, I report the death of Ash Kennaz a.k.a. Brett Hackett, a friend, brother and mentor to many.
Whether liked or not (and most did like him), all who knew Ash regarded him as one of the greatest contemporary magicians. Throughout his extensive career Ash enlightened many to the principles and dynamics of Chaos Magic Theory, including Timothy Leary and Anton LaVey. Among the titles Ash held include Urwahim (Master Shaman) in the Finno-Ugric tradition and Magus (9*=1) in the A.:A.: .
In 2000 Ash opened the Magikal Child bookstore (with homage to Herman Slater) in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury, which served as one of the last remaining outlets for the occult community until 2002.
A martial artist capable of breaking arrows against his neck and born with second sight, Ash strove every day towards his life's goal of reawakening magic in this world.
Ash was initiated in Feri Tradition as well.

Re: R.I.P. Ash Kennaz
Thu, September 11, 2008 - 12:09 PMThis is someone I have not heard of. Do you know who initiated him?
also the AA attribution is wrong he was either a 10=1 or if actually a Magus in the A.'.A.'., then the attribution would be 2=9. This refers to the sephroth that they attained.

Fri, September 12, 2008 - 6:05 AMYes, I realized the clerical error after the fact, thanks. 9*=2, proper lineage.
I'll have to track down that information, or maybe someone with a better network; it was up in Seattle area. -

Re: R.I.P. Ash Kennaz
Fri, September 12, 2008 - 12:24 PMHi Morgan,
There are only 6 Feri initiates in Seattle. 4 of them descend from me and I know everyone they have initiated. The other two haven't been up there that long and have initiated no one. I did some checking with other initiates and he does not appear on our lineage chart, yes we have a complete listing of those who have been initiated (we are a small enough trad still that we can keep track of that), and of those initiates who knew him, they also confer that he wasn't one of us, albeit a really wonderful individual.
