Workshop- Nimue and the Black Heart of Innocence with Karina

Nimue and the Black Heart of Innocence

"How beautiful and lascivious the black hearted innocence of
children and animals." Victor Anderson quoting the Dogon peoples.

Holy Nimue
Dark Darling of the Starry Magics
With you we laugh, cry, play, sing
And have our being
Holy Nimue
White One
lascivious keeper of the Black Heart
Untainted by shame, fear or guilt
In you we see our True Nature.

by
Karina

She is the Dark Daughter. Fierce and wild, unashamed and certainly
uncivilized. Nimue has much to teach us about innocence,
wonderment, Self-ishness and compassion. She embodies a purity
that, to the outer culture, seems anything but! As content singing
naked in the garden as she is smashing bugs or stirring storms, she
requires we proudly lay claim to the parts of ourselves we have
denied and covered over with shame, fear and guilt. Fearless,
shameless, without remorse, Nimue is both beautiful and terrible.
She pulls the pulsing, shining Black Heart from her pocket where
she's kept it hidden with frogs, bits of sand, some burrs, a
bluebird feather and other treasures collected on her tromp through
the woods. She holds it out to you, asking, "Wanna play?"

Nimue has deep mysteries to reveal to us. There is profound
healing leading to tremendous power to be had here! Together, we will
carefully create a container for this work by building altars,
cleansing and charging the space, aligning our Triple Souls and
making Kala for that which stands in the way of this Work. We will
feed the Guardian of the group mind as well as make appropriate
offerings for exploring this path safely.

Through Soul Alignment and Kala, coupled with discussion, poetry,
movement, Pentacle work, guided meditation, trance, journaling,
partnered and group exercises, song, ecstatic dance and play, we
will invoke a state of BlackHearted Innocence and celebrate our true
nature.

By the end of this weekend intensive, students will have developed a
deeper, personal, working realtionship with Nimue as well as having
reclaimed apsect of our own wildly innocent nature. Students will
take with them practices to continue deepening this important
relationship as well as tools for discerning and developing our own
Black Hearted Innocence.

It is suggested that workshop participants have experience with some
foundational Feri practices, specifically, Three-Soul Alignment and
the Kala Rite. Other important skills include grounding, a sense of
self-responsibility, respect for the group mind as well as for
individual participants. It There is a materials list for this
class. Space is limited. Early Registration not only helps us
organize this Intensive, but also assures your place.

September 27 -28th. Details: Workshop will run from 10 a.m.m - 8
p.m. on Saturday 9/27 and from 10 a.m. until around 2:30 p.m. in
Shepardstown, West Virginia on Sunday. Lunch both days is Brown Bag.
Dinner Saturday is an organized potluck (details as we approach the
date) Coolers will be available for food storage. A list of hotels
and B&B's will be made available.

Intensive Fee: Sliding Scale $110-$145 per person. Please email
Swansister at swanstar@verizon.net to register.

I've made a few minor changes to my web site: http://www.whitewand.com. The biggest change is the memorial to Cora which was actually written by Soul Fire. I don't think he's on tribe. It's the memorial that was on the booklet we gave out at the funeral. If you weren't there and would like to see it, go to the web site.

intentional Feri house forming this summer, Bay Area

In the Bay Area of looking to move here?

who we are:

Oberyn Solis – a new initiate and Feri practitioner. Not teaching and not willing to teach student roommates. He has interests in queer theory, plant allies, alternative healing modalities, music (plays the pennywhistle and harp), other spiritual traditions (such as Zen and Vajrayana Buddhism, chaos magick, Taoism, and more) cooking, poetry, and theatre.

Lillitu Shahar – a Feri student nearing the end of Thorn Coyle’s 2-year class, she intends to continue study with Thorn and other initiates with a goal of initiation. She works with and loves animals, particularly parrots (and two small ones will be living in this house) and has interest in living art, performance, and culture, reading, hoodoo, reiki and other forms of energy healing, herbalism, and cooking/baking. She intends to attend bodywork school in the near future.

necessary disclosure: Obie and Lilli are in a poly relationship. we are adults about it and make it our work that it will never get in the way of other relationships, including roommate ones. we respect each other and others as individuals and do not subscribe to the “us vs. them” just because we like each other in “that way”! we intentionally want a communal household (more than just the two of us) and are creating that, step by step.

necessary:
•	a practitioner (student or initiate) in the Feri trad. someone who does regular self work and is not ruled by complexes.
•	a sense of humor and a genuine like of people, including their foibles.
•	open, honest, communicative, resolution-oriented (references from group living or working situation preferred).
•	someone who is happy to host Feri community gatherings and/or circles in the home
•	comfortable with polyamory/polyfuckery and bisexuality/queer sexuality/BDSM (in theory in common space, in practice in private space)
•	comfortable with animals including parrots, reptiles, dogs. if you intend on bringing animals into the home, all current roomies must meet and agree to the new animal roomie, just like a human one.
•	no cats due to allergies, sorry.
•	people with children are welcome to apply, as long as all roomies agree on new roomie (just like adults and animals).
•	must be able to pay at least $500 per month rent (per bedroom) + utilities + your share of the security deposit (which is usually equivalent to one month’s rent), possibly higher depending on what we find...
•	stable income
•	responsible, reliable person who pays bills on time, communicates effectively on household and personal matters, and respects group process in decision-making (method to be determined by household once it is formed).
•	willingness to come to regular (but not excessive) house meetings to ensure smooth running of home
•	no smoking, Teflon cookware (toxic to parrots and people), or drinking/drugs to excess. we do partake ourselves, but are not addicted or dependent.
•	need to be respectful of other people’s property- asking before taking, respecting the word “no” and other such social niceties…

desired:
•	someone wanting to do daily practice, rituals, and circles and Feri community building together
•	someone who also does energy healing, body work, and/or hoodoo
•	someone who is good with plants/gardening
•	someone who likes to cook or bake
•	artists, musicians, writers, poets, freaks, much welcome and appreciated!
•	wanting to share group meals from time to time would be nice.

where we are now:
•	we are looking for a house in the oakland/berkeley/emeryville (east bay, bay area, CA) areas this summer; we are looking to commit to a place in July and move in August.
•	people who are interested from out the of the area (relocating) are welcome, but must be able to come up with their share of move-in costs by scheduled move-in date, even if they come out later.
•	we are a mixed gender group of two so far (one initiate, one student)- diverse sexualities, from different areas of the country originally.
•	food situation is open to negotiation. some roomies have allergies that preclude 100% sharing (but they wanna share "staples"), others may want to do coop buying/meal prep.
•	we are hoping to get a space large enough to include a temple room as well as space for a large occult library.
•	animals destined to be included are two small parrots who share a cage. they are flighted and all roomies must be OK with bird-proofing to some extent while they are out of their cage. we hope to get a dog as well.
•	we eat meat. vegetarians and vegans are welcome, but understand that your diet is not shared by all in the home and cookware that is not yours specifically will have meat cooked in it.

Funerary arrangements

I know that the Feri folk out there are quite anxious to know about the funerary arrangements. I just got back from the House, and unfortunately have no clear news for you. The funeral home has yet to get back to E, despite his many messages.

Many of you have asked about the viewing hours. Due to legal concerns regarding the fact that she will not be embalmed, there will be no viewing.

What the family is hoping for is to hold the service on Monday. This cannot be confirmed until we hear from the funeral home. I will post news as soon as we know for sure. I'm sorry for the delay, I know that many of you need to make plans. But this can't be helped.

Thank you all for your kind words and offers, we greatly appreciate them.

Feri Meet-up at Pantheacon on Friday and Saturday

I know everyone cannot make it a certain day or hour during P-Con, but
we thought we could do it two times/days. That way if you cannot make
one, you can do the other.

We chose 7:00pm on Friday, and 6:oopm on Saturday (due to Feri
presentations at 7:00pm on Saturday).

Where: At the Lobby Bar near the check-in lobby and that big ol'
fireplace.

Hope to see folks there!

Hey everybody-

I've just joined the list looking for contacts in or around my home town of Toronto. Would somebody say hello if you know one? I'm a seeker who's read Thorn's book and Cora's book and would like to learn more, and hang out, maybe do some magical work together. I'm a medical doctor and a researcher. I love coffee. I've got a passion for lesser-known myths and make a fair amateur astronomer. I can read a good spread of Tarot cards. My Qabalah is the pits, though. Please, please, drop me a line and say hi. Even if you're not from "up here".

Lots of love and blessing-

a wise suggestion was to include your on-line name somewhere on your name tag :)

So it is only in the last several years that I have become aware of how strong my talents and power is, and even more recently that I have seen the devastation I can cause if I'm not careful. While most witches I meet are low on the energy end of things, they get very caught up in the details of spell craft. I on the other hand, if I actually understand what I've done, I may have killed innocent people because I let loose psychic bombs-spells without knowing too much about spell craft or protections. I have been wanting to take classes for some time now, but couldn't make it a priority since money issues have only recently been permanently resolved. I'm supporting myself completely for the first time in my life at a financial level I am comfortable with. so classes are actually a possibility in the foreseeable future. My post here is more or less seeking comments or maybe advice about your reasons for creating spells, ways of binding protections and such into them, etc.. Let me expound a bit more;

I was raised around eastern philosophies more than western, in particular a grandchild of sufiism called Subud. Then at age 11 I became a born again United Pentecostal, much to the chagrin of my Hippy, Jewish mother. So my image of witches was of course a bit skewed by that, I didn't realize till rather recently that I thought casting spells was something people did only when they wanted to manipulate someone or something, wanted to express anger or exert power over someone else. I cast two spells in the last ten years to express anger, a great deal of rage and anger. And I think I killed people in the process, one person each time, people I never met, totally innocent Goddess knows what was going on in their lives to attract that energy to them, but I feel responsible none-the-less. Am I accepting too much responsibility ifI never met them? I dunno, but if I can throw around that much energy, I'm no longer willing to do it randomly, I am willing to accept responsibility and don't want to throw somuch energy out that someone actually gets killed at all, it wasn't what the spells were supposed to accomplish, but Gods knows I was that angry!!!

Opinions, advice, etc.?

the Greenhouse Project needs your help!

Greetings Friends, Family, and Co-conspirators,

The Greenhouse Project is about to make its way halfway across the country to Burning Man. It's an exciting time, the Project is drawing attention from people nation wide and will be included in a little documentary vignette that will air on Sundance. We've got great placement, and if you're going to be in Black Rock City, be sure and stop by. We'll be 1900' from the Man, near the Temple. We're leaving Aug 21, and until then, I'm working feverishly on making this installation something we can all be proud of. And I need your help!

*******************************************************************

These are the things I need most urgently to make it happen:

*ART! of all mediums (exploring concepts of growth/decay, natural cycles & phenomena, birth/life/death, etc., recycled & found objects highly encouraged)

*Offerings and sacrifices (What would you offer your future/present/past self in order to heal/create/bless your own life? What would you give the earth to symbolize your commitment to creating a greener world? What gift would you give to show gratitude for all that you have and all that you will become?)

*Natural found objects -- shells, rocks, plants, bones, dirt, water, etc. (any loose materials should be put in jars or other sealed containers so as not to create a MOOP hazard (matter out of place) I have a few jars/containers on hand we can use for this purpose).

*Fabrics (exotic, sheer, animal skin/fur/leather (faux or recycled real))

*Lights! (of all colors and kinds -- rope light, xmas lights, LEDs, clamp lights, etc etc etc). Muy importante!

*Paint (acrylic preferred, but I'll take what I can get) brushes, and permanent markers

And these are the things I also need and am prepared to buy unless someone gifts or loans them to me:

*2 or 3 Deep cycle marine batteries 12V
*Solar panel(s) to charge batteries
*Sturdy plastic bins to pack stuff in

*********************************************************************

If you have donations to make, you can check out the Project in progress -- in person!-- and drop them off at my home in South Austin. I welcome individuals and groups of visitors who wish to see the Project before it heads to BM. Please call or email for directions and to coordinate times. If you have trouble getting to South Austin, we can try to meet somewhere more central if that works better for you.

And if you feel compelled to contribute but don't have any of the stuff on the wishlist, we'd gladly take money donations to help offset building and transportation costs. I'd love to see you in person too, but in case you can't make it to my house, you can make a donation through Paypal. My Paypal acct is under lauraleanalle@gmail.com Every dollar helps!

You can also track the progress of the Greenhouse Project from the comfort of your own home. Here: http://lauraleanalle.livejournal.com/ and here: http://people.tribe.net/earth2LL

*********************************************************************

And let me conclude by saying how thankful I am for the overwhelming amount of support and encouragement and love I have received from many of you individually and the community as a whole. This has been one of the most unbelievable experiences of my life thanks to all of you who have lent support in both big and little ways. I am filled with so much love and gratitude for everything everyone has done and said. It's really just beautiful way beyond belief or anything I could have ever imagined. So, I thank you, thank you, thank you!

With Love and Light (and paint all over me),
Laura Lea

Hello, everyone.

Chas and I have been busy lately revamping the Feri Tradition Community website. (www.FeriTradition.org) Aside from the graphic updates (really, a complete overhaul) we have added some new features, most notably a message board, so check it out. We have some big plans for the future, and hope to be add new material from other teachers over the next several months.

Let me know what you think. Suggestions are always welcome!

I think it can be agreed by all of us that Feri witches are a creative, opinionated bunch. So you'd think that we'd have *hundreds* of submissions for the next Witch Eye, right?

Well... we have a few... but it's not coming together yet, so here's what we want you to do...

Send us something. A ritual. A review. A piece of art. A story. Humor! Send us your really cool experience in trance that you feel like sharing... tell us what the Gods are inspiring in you. We're still interested in cool poetry, but keep in mind that we get mostly poetry as it is. But an essay... an article... a well mannered rant... Bring 'em on! Whatever little Feri thing you'd like to address, do it and send it in!

Or... if you just can't think of where to start, how about pondering some of these?

* The Mighty Dead: Ancestral Reverence and Practice in Feri Magic
* Love and the Craft: How has Feri impacted your relationships?
* The Dangers of Feri. What exactly are they? And why does it sound so cool?
* Art & Feri. Has Feri impacted your creative life? Are you dancing more? Making music? Are you creating art for the first time? Tell us!
* You may have aligned your Three Souls, but you still can't use the car-pool lane.
* Initiation. What it is. What it isn't. And why you may never need one. Or want one.
* Dreams... We've collected dreams from folks that involve the late Victor Anderson. Do you have one?
* Cursing. C'mon... you know you want to.
* Ethics. Lost teachings of the tradition found!
* Seeking the Black Heart. Exercises and Stories on the search for Feri's Holy Grail
* Outside Looking In: Feri from a non-Feri Perspective
* Witch Eye: The Swimsuit Issue. Send us your pictures! No, I'm not kidding...
* The Divine Twins. Cornerstone of the Feri mythos and I still can't tell them apart.
* Kala and the Pearl Pentacle: Is the community doing enough?
* Classroom vs. the Coven, or why you are wrong to practice as you do

Our next theme, if we have one, will depend on what I get a lot of. But I love diversity, so send us whatever you want to write about! You can do it. We want material from all aspects of the Feri community: initiates, teachers, students, practitioners, and even educated seekers. You have over three months. Deadline isn't until September 1st! No excuses! Flex those Pride points!

Guidelines can be found here: http://www.feritradition.org/witcheye/submissions.htm
Send all submissions and questions to: witcheye@feritradition.org

Call for Healing Energy for Jim G.

Those of you who attended Pantheacon and the Star Goddess Devotional this year have heard that one of our elders is in need. Jim G. is in need of healing energy. Melissa P. says she does not have Internet access at the moment, so asked me to pass on the request for healing energy. Jim has been struggling with the after effects of cancer treatments and has developed breathing problems, so has been hospitalized for quite some time now. Melissa is praying to get him well enough to come home from the hospital. Unfortunately, Melissa has her own health issues, but she is not asking for anything for herself. We all know that you should not pray for someone that does not ask. However, in this case praying for Jim’s recovery benefits both Jim and Melissa.

Last year at Pantheacon Jim and Melissa attended the Feri Ritual and I can attest to the great power and immediate benefits they felt from the healing energy they received at that time. Lets share the power of community and send them much needed energy.

Our community can do and has done great things. Cora has already seen great benefits from the coming together of the Feri Community. And as Brian Dragon reminded us recently, a nationwide synchronized cone of power was used back in the 70s to save Victor from the brink of death when he was in the ICU with hemorrhaging ulcers. Gwydion called every single phone number he'd collected and had all of them call every person they knew. When the doctors took one last look in the morning before cutting him open they totally freaked. "This guy doesn't have any bleeding ulcers!"

Please pass this on to other lists and to people not on lists.

Bright Blessings.
Room share/lodging for Pantheacon

Hello,

I've just decided to go to Pantheacon (my first time!), and am working on finding lodging.

My backup plan is to stay at a hostel in SF; however, I'd love to not have to travel between San Jose and San Francisco every day.

If anyone has space in their San Jose hotel room that they would be willing to share, I would happily share the cost. Please contact me at jeanb@gacpc.com OR mayeve@comcast.net.

If you would like references to prove I am not some kind of psycho or anything, I can provide that! :-)

blessings,

Jean

Cora Update

Great news!. We have finally succeeded in finding a caregiver to work weekends. I had been using a referral agency but that failed to yield results. Following a helpful suggestion received online, I posted a job description at a local nursing school. I got a call within a couple days and interviewed someone soon after. Cora met her on Sunday and like her. Today she watched Marguerite care for Cora. She starts work this Saturday.

To make the job more attractive and to help Cora, we advertised that the job is two 7 hour shifts Saturday and Sunday. However Social Services will only pay for 5 hours each of those days. In addition, the hourly rate is not that attractive. Given the large positive response from the online community supporting the idea of contributing money to supplement Cora's care, we are going forward with the idea of setting up a fund to pay for the additional hours and provide a little extra toward the hourly rate for both workers.

To get started on the fund-raising, a paypal account has been set up for online donations. The account name is corafund@yahoo.com.

Please donate whatever amount you are comfortable with. Some have suggested $10-15 per month which is fine if enough people sign on. A monthly commitment is preferred so that we can continue to provide Cora with the extra hours of care on the weekend.

This account will accept funds from credit cards, paypal funds or checking accounts. However to avoid fees it is best to avoid the credit card transaction. Since there is no "donations" category in paypal, my only suggestion is to select "services" instead of goods or eBay auction items. Our plan for the fund is to use a nonprofit status so that donors will receive a tax deduction. However, we need more time to set that up so for now we have no way of providing a tax deductible receipt. I will update the community once the nonprofit fund has been set up. We will likely set up donation buttons at Feri websites as well. Let me know if you are willing to create such a link on your webpage.

If you would prefer to send a check, please make it out to Victor Anderson and send to Cora at 1529 153rd Ave, San Leandro, CA, 94578. Just include a note that it is for the CoraFund.

Cora would like to personally thank donors, so when you make a donation please include your mailing address. Cora will be sending a personal thank you card. In addition, I am setting up an online community to post updates on Cora's health and the fund-raising efforts, as well as create a forum for sharing Cora's wisdom and stories about both Victor and Cora. If you have visited Cora recently or in the past and would like to share stories from your visit please post them to this Live Journal community: http://community.livejournal.com/victor_cora/
I will also post updates to Tribe.

Thank you,

Onyx (Steve)

Cora Visit 020307

The CoraFund is at ~$1300 today. Cora was impressed by the generosity of the community. I made thank you cards for her and we sat there together today with a rubber stamp of a long stem rose and red ink pad and she personalized them (since she has trouble writing now).

Things went very well with Anne the new weekend worker. Marguerite came by to help make sure she could be moved, bathed, fed without any trouble. Cora was nervous at first especially with getting in and out of the wheelchair but she had no problems.

Cora’s son Elon was there and we discussed the best ways to use the donated funds to avoid creating problems with Social Services.

I left Cora sleeping but with a promise she would share a story to post online next time I come over.

Donation buttons have been created for monthly and onetime donations to the CoraFund. They can be viewed near the bottom of the profile page of the Victor_Cora LiveJournal webpage:

PanTheaCon 2007
A bit of bureaucratic warning...keep a copy of your ticket purchase on you or in your room in case you
lose your name badge, as it seems that Security is on the Up-Swing of their pendulum ;). One of my students
lost her badge last year and they would not admit her to anything until she got a replacement, a few hours later.
I will be wearing ALL of my badges, 11 years worth, including all costume award ribbons and presenter ribbons, as a sort of
"Feri social comment" on Security over-rigidity. If you have some of your P-Con badges, I invite you to join in the fun and
string yours together too! ( and then add the new one to the bottom and wear the whole lot!!)

PCon Star Goddess Devotional 2007

Hello Ferikyn,
A small group o'Feri have put together what looks to
be a wonderful ritual for P-Con. It is on Sunday night
at 9pm in the Cedar/Pine rooms.

We are looking for the following (as far as more
volunteers at this time):

1. Faerie Jesters (outside the doors entertaining the
eager participants wearing wings & delie-bobbers
provided if the don’t have them, telling Feri jokes)
This group will be 'herded' by Carolyn Dewis, FDFeri
student. Participation in this portion must be pre-arranged.
Contact me at j@argentart.com

2. set-up crew to carry Altars (4) and ritual
paraphernalia down from my room to the hall at 8:45(6
folk)

3. tear-down crew to remove same after ritual (6
folk).

If you know someone who is interested, please have
them email me at j@argentart.com. We will also be
posting these specific requests on a few other Feri
lists.

If you have Feri/faerie jokes you would like to have
the jesters tell, please email them to Carolyn Dewis:
jameysmama@hotmail.com

thankx

Hello, tribe.

I'm trying to find an old friend with whom I've lost touch, and I'm hoping someone here knows her. She lived in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM some years ago, and has gone by the names Oz and Phaazsha. She's been a Feri since I've known her (about 25 years). Her house in Los Ranchos was once known as La Caldera de Hecate.

Does anyone know Oz? Where she is now? How I can get in touch with her again?

Any help is much appreciated.

Blessings on Robert Anton Wilson. He opened the doors for many, turned Atheists into strange believers, and turned true believers into skeptics.

I was introduced to the Illuminatus! trilogy when I was eighteen by an older friend who likely saw that I, though a young Witch, still needed some loosening up. I remember reading it on the bus and laughing out loud. I saw evidence of Eris around the world after that and, like many others, sent in 23 dollars when I heard of his recent dire straights.

His weblog on Saturday said this:
"Various medical authorities swarm in and out of here predicting I have between two days and two months to live. I think they are guessing. I remain cheerful and unimpressed. I look forward without dogmatic optimism but without dread. I love you all and I deeply implore you to keep the lasagna flying.

Please pardon my levity, I don't see how to take death seriously. It seems absurd."

Strange Magus, thanks for easing me further into the shoals of magic. May the way be open for you.

Ya Fatah! (and Hail Eris, holder of a giant bingo ball at a roadside parlor in Brazil)

Gabriel Carillo died yesterday, after a long battle with AIDS related illnesses.

Teacher to many, adversary to many - always interesting - he left his mark on the Feri Tradition. Carodoc was my first teacher in the Feri Tradition, well over 20 years ago. We had big differences and strong arguments - with lapses into long avoidances - over the course of those years, and he was also my brother in the Craft.

May you rest well, and come to healing, Gabriel.

Blessings,

new here and thought I would give a brief hello. I am a seasoned witch with Irish heritage. I have managed to go most of my witch "career" without finding a tradition that fit me until I found Feri. . . more acurately it found me as I was tripping my own feet trying to fit in to a ' normal' coven setting. Goes to show you that "normal" really is only a dryer setting and not a thing for humans. So hello and I'll see you out there somewhere I am sure.

This is a call for those interested in a Feri study group, open to all students, seekers and initiates, to meet in Berkeley weekly or bi-weekly. The plan is to focus on the foundations of Feri lore and a good dose of actual praxis. Meeting time and location to be decided once there is enough interest.

I am a 6th-year student of the Feri tradition, having been originally trained and Empowered by Gabriel. I now "study" with Eldri Littlewolf, Brian Dragon and Dominic Elemirion.

If interested, please write to me offlist at: y.garan.gwyn@gmail.com

Thank you.

Ive mostly only done meditations on the Blue God and ive had many dreams with him, one of the dreams is that my entire body is blue and he is dancing around me laughing and holding a peacock fan. I really dont know where to begin,,,,,should i set up an altar to the Blue God and Star Godess?

Also i live in Orlando,Fl, does anyone live anywhere near here who is a priest/ess in the Feri Tradition?

Thanks in advance for any advise/tips

A Declaration

This tastes particularly Feri to me, so I thought I'd share...

The Witchcraft
(from Freedom Is a Two Edged Sword, John Whiteside Parsons, 1950)

I.

We are the Witchcraft. We are the oldest organization in the world. When man was born, we were. We sang the first cradle song. We healed the first wound, we comforted the first terror. We were the Guardians against the Darkness, the Helpers on the Left Hand Side. Rock drawings in the Pyrenees remember us, and little clay images, made for an old purpose when the world was new. Our hand was on the old stone circles, the monolith, the dolmen, the druid oak.

We sang the first hunting songs, we made the first crops to grow; when man stood naked before the Powers that made him, we sang the first chant of terror and wonder. We wooed among the Pyramids, watched Egypt rise and fall, ruled for a space in Chaldea and Babylon, the Magian Kings. We sat among the secret assemblies of Israel, and danced the wild and stately dances in the sacred groves of Greece.

In China and the Yucatan, in Kansas and Kurdistan we are one. All organizations have known us, no organization is of us; when there is too much organization we depart. We are on the side of man, of life, and of the individual. Therefore we are against religion, morality and government. Therefore our name is Lucifer.

We are on the side of freedom, of love, of joy and laughter and divine drunkenness. Therefore our name is Babalon.

Sometimes we move openly, sometimes in silence and in secret. Night and day are one to us, calm and storm, seasons and cycles of man, all these things are one, for we are at the roots. Supplicant we stand before the Powers of Life and Death, and are heard of these Powers, and avail. Our way is the secret way, the unknown direction. Our way is the way of the serpent in the underbrush, our knowledge is in the eyes of goats and of women.

It is our own force that sometimes shifts jeweled coils and [...] mighty pinions in the breast of man; our Power is one with the Power that causes the God to stir in the heart of the seed, and the bud to burst into blossom and fruit; and whenever a man and a woman are united in one substance, our power is that substance.

Merlin was of us, and Gawain and Arthur, Rabelais and Catullus, Gilles de Retz and Jahanne d'Arc, De Molensis, Johannes Dee, Cagliostro, Francis Hepburn and Gellis Duncan, Swinburne and Eliphas Levi, and many another bard, Magus, poet, martyr known and unknown that carried our banners against the enemy multiform and ubiquitous, the Church and the State. And when that vermin of Hell that is called the Christian Church held all the West in a slavery of sin and death and terror, we, and we alone, brought hope to the heart of man, despite the dungeon and the stake.

II.

We are the Witchcraft, and although one may not know another, yet we are united by an indissoluble bond. And when the high wild cry of the eagle sounds in your mind, know that you are not alone in your desire for freedom. And when the howl of the wolf echoes in the forests of your night, know that there are those who also prowl. And when the ways of your fellows about you seem the ways of idiocy and madness, know that there are also others who have seen and judged -- and acted.

Now know that the power that we serve lies in the heart of every man and woman as the tree lives in the seed. And to be with us, you have but to call upon that Power, and you are as one of us. And when our Power and Joy have come upon you, you may go forth and do your will among men, and none shall say you nay. And if it be your will, you shall do your will secretly, and if it be your will, you shall do your will openly, as your will.

Therefore lift up your hearts saying, "I am a man" or "I am a woman," and the Power of Life is mine! And in the Power of Life you shall live and love, accepting no restriction and placing no restriction, freely and granting freedom. And it may be in the bounty of life you shall see the love of life shine in the eyes of another, and the lust of life burn upon his brow, and thus you shall take great joy together. And it may be in good fortune you may find a number such; and share you joy in secret feasting and rejoicing and all manner of lovemaking and festival. Or it may be that at hazard and danger you will teach the joyous power to men; as your wills move you.

And this is well so long as you remember one thing. There can be no restriction. The Power of Life is not restricted; it knows its own way, but no mind knows that way. Therefore in yourself practice all the giving and taking of freedom that is consistent with life, for thereby alone can you remain in our joy.

Pain is. Terror is, loss and loneliness and agony of heart and spirit, even unto Death. For this is the gateway to the kingdom of Pan.

Our way is not for all men. There are those who are so constricted and sick in themselves that the thought of their own freedom is a horror, and that of others a fierce pain; so that they would enslave all men. And these you should shun, or, if you must, destroy them as you will know how, for this is also a bounty.

Nor think the life power should manifest in those who have no trouble or turmoil, for these may be mere dumb cattle, innocents out of season. Rather does the power often show the most where conflict rages, since at any time, and especially in a false civilization, the way must be won through. Surrender is disaster. The other side of the coin is a song in the sunlight and a dance in the moonlight, where all the mists are dispersed. But the way must be won.

Feri teachers in Toronto, Ontario area?

Hi, I've been studying Feri for over a year, both from books and online, but a teacher would be great. I can't seem to find any Feries here in Canada though, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm ready to take my studies to the next level.

Weekend gathering with Francesca De Grandis

Hi All!
I'm new but seeing as I'm one of the few eastcoast Feri people I'm going to post an e-mail from Francesca De Grandis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come Home to the Faerie Queen

A Weekend-Long Training With Francesca De Grandis

To explain this class, I have to share a vision I had, some of it old, some new: The Goddess shows us many faces. She is God Herself, She is the Faerie Queen. She tells me - - tells us - - now: I am Faerie Queen, Mother of the Faerie Nation - - And more of you are awake now.

Lovers, warriors, mere children, and elders, cats in disguise and mixed-blood humans, wolves, bards, dragons, gardeners, herbalists, corporate executives, changelings, tricksters, moon-children, star-children, and techno-pagans, oh, and so many others, more of you are awake now.

Come unto me,

come home to me, I am your Mother and I will protect you, uphold you, make love with you, tutor you until your starlit blood is mine and flowing back and forth between us like the milky way in all its immense luminosity - - Dance with me!

I have hungered, lonely for my children in their absence.

But you are awake now, so

come, my Faerie children, to me.

The new Fey tribe must begin - -

A mystical global village.

This vision is not entirely new, not hardly. For one thing, I've been waiting lifetimes for the Fey-spark in humans to fully ignite again. And, more and more, the ancient starlit blood has come forward. But, finally, momentum hit critical mass; the magic's suddenly - - and thoroughly - - awake in huge numbers of people. Fey-touched! This leaves us with new concerns, and steps that need to be taken from here:

* In recent years, have you felt, intuited, or otherwise sensed huge shifts in the human/plant/mineral psyche?

* What do we each personally require for self-healing, prosperity, and great sex during present times?

* Do you feel that both the world and you, yourself, desperately needs the mystical part of you right now?

* Do you need help learning how to (better) use your new/old/undiscovered/shifted powers, both magical and mundane?

* Do you find paganism too dogmatic and not pagan enough? And do you long for fellowship that supports your own unique vision?

* How can mystics - - disparate types ranging from wolves to homemakers to activists to quiet magicians - - come together to learn, love, grow, celebrate, and protect Gaia?

* Can Gaia - - can we ourselves - - be happy, or even survive, without such a tribe happening globally? Fey-touched! Faerie Nation.

This class will address these concerns and more. You'll also find ways to: be the style of Faerie shaman *you* think is ideal; strengthen your community; and help friends find their own answers to the above concerns. But, wait, there's more!

Come home, home, home, home. There are many places in Faerie, all different, each special. One of them is your home. Home. This class will help you go home. And, if you're already there, you'll learn (more) ways to find its unique magic and spirituality and use them practically to empower your mundane life.

We'll end up creating a Fey global village, and a new Fey you, a new Fey me. You'll also receive ideas and practices to bring back to your community to help them follow suit. (I ask participants to not bring the whole class curriculum back with them unless they discuss that with me -- it needs to be led by a shaman who is not only a master, but also has specific specialties.) But when you leave me you'll have lotsa ritual material, lotsa practical tools, and lotsa sparkly energy!

This class is an intensive and will meet just outside the town of Meadville, Northwestern Pennsylvania, one of the hidden natural gems and power spots of the country, on AUGUST 12 & 13. Sessions last each day from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M (with an hour break for lunch). RESERVE SEPT 2 & 3 FOR A MAKEUP WEEKEND in case I'm unexpectedly unavailable on the planned date.

Enrollment is limited to twenty seekers. Anyone is welcome. The training is without prerequisites; and multi-leveled to accommodate any degree of experience and education. If you wonder why I'm leading a small group when I'm talking about creating a Faerie Nation: A global tribe of mystics must also have little gatherings if it's to address personal issues, remain magical, and honor individuality.

TUITION is $250. TO REGISTER, USE PAYPAL: Sign up for "Special Event" at http://www.well.com/user/zthirdrd/specialevent.html

If you prefer REGISTRATION BY POSTAL MAIL, send:

* check or money order for $250

* e-mail address, home address, and phone number

* the name of the desired event: Come Home to the Faerie Queen to Francesca De Grandis POB 145 Meadville, PA 16335

Upon receipt of payment, your place is reserved, and exact location, etc., is mailed to you. Scholarship, work trade, and payment plan available. Refunds unavailable. The Third Road reserves the right to terminate anyone's involvement in an event at any time; in which case, refund will be prorated according to time attended.

I've heard the following local accommodations are affordable and pleasant, but I can't make endorsements; the following list is provided as a jumping off point for your own research.

any initiates of the Anderson Feri lineage teaching in NYC area?

I am an experienced student of esoterism and witchcraft traditions with no current formal affiliations. I am wondering if there is any active group in New York City? I have been impressed to discover a real initiatory tradition in the Feri materials I have thus far read online.

Hello all,
I'm Grimm and I'm a self proclaimed Faerie Shaman. I am very interested in Feri but I live in Philadelphia and know of no one here who teaches. I ahve been going through a huge shift in my spirituality and have come to see the Feri path as a way to bring the scattered threads of my studies together weaving them into the beautiful cloth I know they are and that I am.

Any help or encouragement would be well recieved as will all advice.

Love and Lightning,

Witch Eye #13 & a BOOK!

Yay! Finally! Witch Eye #13: Exploring the Pentacles is finally done! Now I need a drink! ;)

www.FeriTradition.org/witcheye

Lots of stuff on the Pentacles, plus daily practice, plant magick, poetry, art, and more!

And while you are looking around there, check out the new Witch Eye book: By Witch Eye: Selections from the Feri Uprising, Vol. 1. It has a lot of stuff from the first seven issues of the zine (now out-of-print) plus some brand new material!

We also revamped the community resource page at www.FeriTradition.org. Now there's articles and a reprint of the Feri FAQ. More articles from different authors to come soon!

It took a lot but we love how they turned out, and we hope you do too.

intro

So, I suppose I'll delurk long enough to say hi. I think I've been hanging around quietly now for about a year. So, "hello!"

I'm one who goes by many names, but Draco is the one I've used longest aside from my given name, and is the name I use with my art. Guess it makes sense to use it for my other art, magick, as well.

As of this post, I'm still a seeker, though looking for a Feri teacher in the Seattle area. I do have a local friend who is Feri and is willing to teach but busy barely begins to describe him. Curious to if anyone knew of others in the area, just to expand my range of options, cause I'll probably get to a point where reading whatever I manage to find, is probably no longer going to cut it.

More about me: all of my past experiences with magick and related tidbits over the last decade have been whatever I've managed to teach myself from reading, but otherwise have been working with what I have at hand as no other traditions in the past have really grabbed my attention enough to want to seek a teacher, unlike Feri. Currently, I'm using my art as an outlet for working magick and simultaneously to give stength and life to my work. My work is influenced by mythology, pre-existing and my own as I make it up, by animals, real and fantastic and by historical art and design styles such as Egyptian statuary, Art Nouveau and illuminated manuscripts. To date, my most cohesive body of work was made for my thesis exhibition this past fall, Evocation by Fire. Individual pieces linked through here, if you're curious to what I do. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/26745806/

Other gibberish...after reading the recent strings of peacock/serpent posts and references to the Twins and Paradise in a linked article, I thought it was rather amusing that I find out all these serpent connections to the peacock that I'd not known about before. What's so amusing, is that I just finished a drawing I've been working on since January. The image of the peacock was chosen for a couple different reasons, but the fact that it's holding a serpent with its foot (versus just having the two in the tree seperately) amused me more as a read yet more references. Though, the big "what the-" moment was reading the Twins and Paradise correlation and keeping in mind of the peacock/serpent/Twins connection, as the drawing is titled Paradisio. My day, just a few hours ago, just became a little more surreal. Image is here if you want to see what I'm yammering on about. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/30178334/ Prints available on the site if you're coveting it.

Ok. I suppose that's enough for now. Going back to my cave to lurk.

Blessings,

~Draco

Count down to the deadline for Witch Eye 13 is t-minus 6 days... and yet we have received very little in terms of submissions.

We need ART! We need ARTICLES! We need SPELLS, EXERCISES, and LORE! Keep the zine alive! Submit your STUFF!

Guidelines can be found here: http://www.feritradition.org/witcheye/submissions.htm

If you have any questions... LET US KNOW! (And quick!)

If you have a great idea for an article of other piece, but just need more time, why not ask me? We might be able to save space for you. Otherwise it's gonna be a very small issue. Or a very "Storm-heavy" one. ;)

Official Deadline: Feb. 25th. Projected publication sometime in March. A theme may emerge from what I get. ALL Feri-related materials will be considered. Some ideas include:

* Ethics of Feri - Have something to say about Feri's ethics or lack thereof? Here's your chance to sound off!

* Pentacle Practices - Pentacles are a major part of our tradition. Whether it is the traditional Iron or Pearl, or a new one altogether, how do YOU work with Pentacles? Share your magick!

* The Three Souls - Another core concept of our tradition that has inspired other Pagan paths, the Three Souls can be worked with in a myriad of ways. How do YOU align your Three Souls? What insights would you like to share with the rest of us?

* Exploring the Guardians - A great and mysterious group of beings, the Guardians or Watchers have a rich and varied history even within our own tradition. Whether we approach them as the Nephilim, or as something entirely different, the Guardians are teachers of great power.

* Outside Looking In: Perspectives of non-Feries - Sometimes it is easy to forget that the practices of Feri affect those outside the sphere of those actually practicing it. Often a partner, spouse, or a friend sees the changes that occur by working with Feri and they have a unique perspective that can prove invaluable as often those of us "on the inside" can be blinded to the pitfalls of our path. If you are reading this, do YOU have a non-Feri friend or loved-one who might have something to say about their ideas and opinions of Feri? We would love to hear them.

* Dreams of Victor - Many people have reported having powerful dreams of the late Victor Anderson. Are you one of them? Share your stories with us and help celebrate the life of one of the most influential Pagan teachers of modern times.

Send, send, send. Contributor's receive a free copy of the issue in which they are printed.

Please include a short bio (50 words or less) for publication in the zine, along with your snail mail address so I know where to send the copy to. Submissions and questions should be directed to witcheye@feritradition.org.

The Feri/Sabbatic connection

I was originally initiated back in the early 80s into Sabbatic witchcraft and am continuously astounded by the similarities between it and Feri. I wanted to share a little invocation here ...

Here is a great invocation to the Baphomet from Azoetia ... it sells used on amazon for about $1200 but I have a few copies available for $100 including postage ...

AN ADORATION OF THE ICON OF THE SABBAT

Hail to Thee, Black Goat of the Sabbat
Consort of the Blessed and the Wise!
Hail to Thee, Black Goat of Our Adoration,
Betwixt whose Horns burneth the Torch of Our Wisdom.

Hail to Thee, whose cloven feet tread the Depths of the earth;
In whose Body the Satyr and the Nymphe are honoured as One.
From Thy breasts, the feast of Our Nourishment.
From They Veil’d Sexuality, the Feast of Our Pleasure.
From Thy Lips, the feast of Our Knowledge.
By Thy Raised Right Hand and They Lowered Left Hand,
The Twin Blessings of the Star.

Hail to Thee, that art the Sigil and the Body of all Desire
Hail to Thee, who art called ‘Baphomet,’
The Master of the Temple of the Peace of all men.
Hail to Thee, who art the father of Lies and the Mother of Truth.

In Thy Name and in the Names of the Thy Name I go forth!
May They Power in my Body dwell – in this Vessel of Thy Earthly
Worship; yea, even in I , who am the True Child of the Elder Gods.

Akherra Goiti,
Hail to Thee, who art the Herald of the Day.
Thou art Lucifer, the Lucifer, the Light-Bringer,
Who bringeth at the Gate of the Twilight,
Who bringeth forth the Sun from Darkness.
Haail to Thee, star of the Morning!
Abra-Khu-Zraal

Akherra Beiti,
Hail to Thee, who art the Herald of the Night.
Thou art Noctifer, the Daarkness-Bringer,
Who standeth at the Gate of the Dusk,
That sendeth forth the Sun into Darkness
Hail to Thee, Star of the Evening

Connections...

I am newly introduced to the concept of Feri; other than meeting a few folks associated with Feri and begining to read Evolutionary Witchcraft, I know very little. So I am putting my intention out there. My intention is to connect with more people involved with the Feri Tradition and to gain a richer understanding of it. So if you are in the Bay Area and open to nuturing a new connection or if you are willing to interact online, your insight, time, and energy are greater appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to getting to know you sooner than later.
Be well
Love and Light

Hello, all. Just joined. I'm in the Feri LJ community as NyteMuse and also in and around the pagan community as Morgan Felidae. I live in the South Bay Area in California and looking to meet/interact with some local people. I've been pagan for about 10 years now, just discovered Feri 3 or 4 years ago (and always looking for teachers or covens).

Hope to see some of you at Pantheacon next month!

Witch Eye #13: A Call for Submissions

Join the Feri Uprising!

We are calling for submissions for the next issue (#13!) hopefully to be released next month! We've experimented with different "themes" for the issues and I think we are going to relax that a bit and see what all we can get. Diversity is the life-blood of Feri! So if you have something you'd like to write about, why not let us know?

Not sure what to talk about? Here are some things that we are specifically looking for (but feel free to write about *any* Feri related subject):

Ethics of Feri - Have something to say about Feri's ethics or lack thereof? Here's your chance to sound off!

Pentacle Practices - Pentacles are a major part of our tradition. Whether it is the traditional Iron or Pearl, or a new one altogether, how do YOU work with Pentacles? Share your magick!

The Three Souls - Another core concept of our tradition that has inspired other Pagan paths, the Three Souls can be worked with in a myriad of ways. How do YOU align your Three Souls? What insights would you like to share with the rest of us?

Exploring the Guardians - A great and mysterious group of beings, the Guardians or Watchers have a rich and varied history even within our own tradition. Whether we approach them as the Nephilim, or as something entirely different, the Guardians are teachers of great power.

Outside Looking In: Perspectives of non-Feries - Sometimes it is easy to forget that the practices of Feri affect those outside the sphere of those actually practicing it.

Dreams of Victor - Many people have reported having powerful dreams of the late Victor Anderson. Are you one of them? Share your stories with us and help celebrate the life of one of the most influential Pagan teachers of modern times.

Whether your piece is an article, a poem, a ritual or spell, community commentary, a book/music/movie review, a recipe, or (especially) visual art, send it to us and help keep Witch Eye going strong! Submission guidelines can be found here:

http://www.feritradition.org/witcheye/submissions.htm

Please make sure to send a short bio (50 words or less) with your submission, along with your snail mail address so that you can receive your contributor's copy if your piece is used.

As always if you have any questions, please direct them to witcheye@feritradition.org and I will work to help you out! Don't be shy! We want to hear from you! Witch Eye is only made possible through the contributions of many fabulous Witches and Warlocks. (Yup... that means YOU.)

We are quite a creative group and I know that we have it in us! Submission deadline is February 25, 2006. Let them start rolling in!

Hi, my name is Shloma Menachem Mendel ben Avram v'Penina Rosenberg. Years ago when I was co-organizer of Reclaiming Witchcamp (1989-90) I studied with Feri teachers but had to put my instruction on hold due to my initiation into the Santeria/Lukumi faith, which quickly took up all my time.

I am proud to say that I have resumed my studies with the illustrious Storm Faerywolf. We have yet to begun my official studies, but there are no words to say how thrilled I am to study with such a special teacher.

Thank you Storm for accepting me as a student and I hope I make you proud. There is a Yoruba saying that we stand on the shoulders of our teachers and there is no teacher upon whose shoulders I would rather stand. Thank you Storm. And thank you aslo to his husband Chas who, although long distance, has proven himself a great friend.

I recently saw an icon/painting of the Archangel Gabriel appearing to the Virgin Mary to tell her she was pregnant with the Son of God... well, what was interesting was that Gabriel's wings were made of peacock tail feathers! Has anyone else seen this? I immediately thought of you Feri folk ;-)

Hello,

I have created two new tribes related to pagan mythology and religion. One is “Iseum”, which will focus on the Egyptian goddess Isis as she wa
